RJ-45 COMMUNICATION WIRING COLOR CHART
There are many different grades or "categories" of twisted-pair cabling for communication systems (telephone/computer) wiring. Category 5E is the most reliable and highly recommended. Straight-through cables are used for connecting computers to a hub and cross-over cables are used for connecting a hub to another hub (exception: some hubs have a built-in uplink port that is crossed internally allowing for linking or connecting hubs using straight-through cabling instead). Category 5E (Cat 5E) cable is versatile in that it can be crimped as either straight-through or crossed-over. Inside Cat 5E cable are eight thin, color-coded wires that run from one end of the cable to the other. All eight wires are to be used. In straight-through applications, wires 1, 2, 3, and 6 at one end of the cable are also wires 1, 2, 3, and 6 at the other end. For cross-over cable, the order of the wires changes from one end to the other: wire 1 becomes 3, and 2 becomes 6 (To determine which wire is wire number 1, hold the cable so that the end of the plastic RJ-45 tip - the part that goes into a wall jack - is facing away from you. Face the clip down so that the copper side faces up - the spring clip will be parallel to the floor. When looking down on the copper side, wire 1 will be on the far left.). See the following RJ-45 wire color chart: Yaun Co. stocks the Category 5E communications cable in 1000 ft. boxes (our part number TELCAT5E) as well as the crimp tool for attaching the ends (part number TELRJ45CRIMPTOOL ) that sells for $17.33.

UNDERGROUND PRIMARY CABLE SALES RISE OVER 35% IN 2003
Yaun Co. sales for underground primary cable skyrocketed in 2003. Over 4.5 miles (23,627 ft.) of the #2, 15 KVA cable was purchased from the Liberty and New Paltz branches through November. This figure represents a 35% increase in sales over the entire 2002 sales year, with a full month yet to be recorded and jobs have been ordered but not taken just yet. Just over 3 miles (17,495 ft.) was sold in 2002.
The primary cable stocked meets the specifications of both the Central Hudson and NYSEG utilities. Yaun Co. orders 5,000 ft. reels and cuts the cable by the footage as needed by the individual job. The cable is stocked and cut at our New Paltz branch and shipped to Liberty when delivery is required.
Yaun Co. sales of this underground primary cable has steadily increased since we started stocking and cutting the wire ourselves. Prior to 2001, we ordered each wire cut by the job which left Yaun Co. at the mercy of the wire manufacturers as far as pricing and delivery time. The decision to stock primary cable has proven to be a major benefit to our customers in terms of availability and competitive pricing.
