Beckett Offers On-Line Training
                                by Richard H. Yaun Jr.

Every once in a while someone comes up with a truly innovative idea, but to find it in our  HVAC industry is a pleasant surprise.  The other day my wife fed me an  announcement for RW Beckett's Online training program with a note that it might make a good Yaunco Report article.  It sat on my desk for a week or so until I got a spare minute to get caught up on my reading but when I did it stood out like a sore thumb.  It has everything that a good training program should have.  Here is how it works:

Go online by visiting the RW Beckett website at http://www.beckettcorp.com.
Login as:
prof  with a password of: info and Click on GO and you will be taken to a Registration page which will ask you for your contact information. From there you will be asked to sign-in and be taken to a Welcome page that has 4 courses that you can actually take.  The courses offered at this point are Beckett 7184 Controls, (3CEUs), Beckett T501 Gauge (1 CEU), Beckett Z Gauge (1CEU)
and Beckett NX Burner (2CEUs).  There is no charge for the course!! You can take the full course and if you want to take the final exam you can pay $10.00 for the Final test.

Now this  program makes sense. NATE and NORA certified modules.  24/7 Course Access.  Free Course inspection which is my hot button. After paying for many home study courses where the employee did not complete the course, this is a breath of fresh air.  They can study  at his or her leisure and then pay for the test which can be retaken up to 3 times without further charge.  In this day and age of employee turn over it makes sense to be able to select training programs which you feel are relevant to your business.  An investment in E-Training can pay big dividends in terms of tech efficiency and customer satisfaction…

This is a great start and I hope other manufacturers  follow soon with more online E-Training.

"Look Ma, no hands!"

Have you ever been on a service call in a public place and thought this would be a great location for sensor activated flush valves?  Sloan has for some time offered an automatic flush valve for either toilets or urinals.  These devices are available as direct wired or battery operated.  In a new installation, these certainly would be our product of choice.  However, they do require some plumbing and in some cases some wiring.

If you are looking for an even easier way to solve that "no hands" flush, call our Liberty office and ask about a device that installs in less than 3 minutes with the use of an existing flush valve, needs no plumbing and no electrical wiring.  This creative device comes with hardware included and installs on Sloan or Zurn valves and with an adapter on Coyne and Delany.

Shortly a version will be available to install on residential toilet tanks. Adjustable and most of all no touching, Mom would be proud.
