Ruud has made some changes to its very popular UAKA series condensing units which will now be called the UAKB series.  The first thing you will notice is the jacket height has been lowered a few inches.  This was achieved by the design change:  a guard type discharge grill was added in place of the stamped type and the air shroud around the fan blade was redesigned. The sharp corners have been changed to rounded corners giving the unit a nicer look.  The best change for the serviceman was the redesign of the access panel with  two screws on the side for easy excess. This eliminates the four screws: two on the top and two down very low, where you had to get on your knees to see the screws. Ruud found that on many units the serviceman would leave the bottom screws out. 
The redesign of the unit is contractor influenced ,  provides easier service access,  has an easy-to-handle cabinet, and has an attractive low profile.
