ASME Boilers and Your Business

We hear from time to time that heating contractors are installing boilers that do not have an ASME approval. NYS Building Code requires that all boilers being installed in residential or commercial applications carry an ASME approval. If you’re not sure if the boiler being sold to you carries this needed approval ask your supplier or check the plate on the boiler. In addition, all boilers require a low water cutoff. Do not put yourself or your company at risk just because there may not be an official inspection required. If a record exists that you or your firm installed the boiler, ignorance of the code is not a legal defense.
