Many boiler warranties have limiting verbage that says more or less “These warranties extend only to the first retail purchaser of the products and only to a product that has not been moved from its original installation site.

Weil McLain is now beginning to abide by this part of their warranty. It’s very important that the original owner send in the warranty card and that you as a contractor not make any commitments until the original ownership is established. If you are honest and frank with the owner up front, you can avoid creating expectations that may not be fulfilled.
