Oil Heat Rebates Still Alive

We recently received an updated list of qualifying equipment for the New York State "Energy Plus" Oil Heat rebates for Energy-Efficient Furnaces & Boilers program. It was our understanding that all the funds had been used and that the program had been discontinued so we called Assemblyman "Jake" Gunther's office to find out how many $140.00 rebates were available for the upcoming heating season.
Sponsored by the New York Power Authority, the New York Energy rebate program was developed in the 1970's to help provide relief from our dependence on foreign oil. New York State is a net power importer.
The program is available to any homeowner or tenants whom installs a qualifying oil heating system in an existing one to four family dwelling within New York State. No other grants from other federal, state or local government programs may be used in conjunction with this program to cover the cost of the heating system. The program does not cover any boiler installed before May 1, 1999.
We found that there are 3500 grants available for this year. Yaun Company has rebate forms and current approved equipment lists available. More detailed information can be obtained by calling a the NYS Power authority's toll free Hot Line:1-888-211-7921.
