Got a home or business which is an older building with hydronic heat with no room for conventional ductwork and registers. The Unico high velocity system uses 1.5” static pressure which allow for 7”, 9” or 10” main trunk duct. Small 2” supply lines easily snake into hard to reach areas. Placement of the outlets are not as critical as with a conventional duct system.
The Unico system uses aspiration to pull air from the room to mix with the discharge air. The force of the exiting air pulls the air around the outlet causing the air in the room to mix with the conditioned air. Aspiration eliminates drafts and keeps a more even, more comfortable temperature from floor to ceiling. With the higher velocity, only 200 CFM per ton are required which needs 6-7 outlets per ton. Their round or slotted outlets come in plastic, aluminum or in many types of wood. These deliver the air at a very low noise level which if installed correctly will be very hard to notice.
The lower CFM uses a lower 30-40 degree temperature across the coil which will allow for 30% more moisture removal than conventional systems. The modular air handler sections allow one person to carry and fit the blower, coil case and heating module up through a filter grille or access panel in the ceiling. The small sound attenuator flex can easily be snaked between studs and floor joists. We have Unico schools coming up. See our listing of schools on the back page.
