New CMF2 Furnace

You may have already received a notice about  Nordyne’s new CMF2 style furnace.  Nordyne has changed the design of the heat exchanger.  The old CMF furnace had a square box type heat exchanger which, from time to time, would give a little expansion noise on warm up and cool down.  The new rounded heat exchanger with round tubing extends up to the flue collar and offers more surface area to extract more of the heat from going up the chimney.  Yaun Company has copies of the parts list which you will see a few major changes.

The combustion chamber uses the same horizontal style as used in the M1 furnace.  The fan and limit has been replaced with two klixon type switches. If you need parts for a new CMF2 be sure to advise us the that the parts are for a new CMF2 or you will receive the wrong parts.  Please advise all your tech service people of this change and advise them to check model numbers. The outside of the  furnace will look the same and all the accessories bases and roof jack components will still fit the new CMF2.

This is still a heating only furnace which gets its combustion air from under the home through the floor base.  The P3RD 13 seer packaged cooling unit can be added for cooling to this furnace.  Install the automatic damper under the furnace to prevent the cold air for the packaged cooling unit from blowing out the return air grille on the furnace door.  Remember, air like water takes the path of least resistance, and without the automatic damper the furnace will throw the cold air through the furnace door and not out the last registers at the end of the house.  The homeowner will be calling telling you your new unit is not cooling the house due to poor air flow.  The damper also keeps the cold air from causing any  humid air inside the heat exchanger from condensing and causing the heat exchanger to rust out.

Ask your Yaun Co salesman to send you a new CMF2 parts list and technical specifications sheet.
