FIREX ANNOUNCES CO ALARM QUALITY ISSUE
The Maple Chase Company, manufacturer of FireX safety alarms announced that production has stopped on the 10000 CO and 12000 CO/Smoke alarms. This stoppage was taken to investigate quality (nuisance “beeping”) issues related to these models.
The announcement applies only to models manufactured between June 1, 2007 and February 1, 2008. These date codes are found on the back of each individual alarm and follow this format: “2007 JUN 1” and “2008 FEB 1”. Any alarm with date codes within this range are affected by this stoppage.
If any customer has either affected alarm in this date range, these can be returned to Yaun Co. for credit. KIDDE, which recently purchased FireX (see accompanying article in this issue) has the replacement for the popular 12000 model, the KN-COSM-IB which will interconnect with the FireX 5000 and 4618 smoke alarms.
