EASY HEAT “SR TRACE” FREEZE PROTECTION CABLE
David Kawauchi, Electric Marketing Manager
It may seem strange to read about roof freeze protection systems in the warm spring months but this is actually a good time to offer your customers preventative measures for next winter. With all the snow we had this past winter, many home and business owners suffered from water damage due to ice build-up on their roofs. Installing a system to prevent freezing BEFORE winter returns can save costly roof/ceiling repairs.
EASY HEAT offers a perfect solution to cold weather problems with its SR Trace freeze protection cable. This is a self-regulating heating cable that is engineered to vary its output as the surrounding temperature changes (as temperatures decrease, the cable heat increases along the length of the cable). Because of this self-regulating feature, the SR Trace cable can be overlapped without fear of overheating.
SR Trace is available in 3, 5, and 8 watt/ft ratings (based on 50 degrees F) and come in 250 ft. reels or can be cut-to-order for both 120 and 240v applications. Specially designed installation and connection kits help make installing the system easier.
EASY HEAT recommends that the SR Trace cables be controlled to minimize energy consumption. Such a control can be as simple as a toggle switch with a pilot light or as sophisticated as a fully automatic system. The GC-1 controller (with its MSG-1 sensor) is one type of automatic control. It energizes the cables only when moisture conditions exist and there is a risk of freezing. If the temperature is below 38 degrees F. and the sensor detects moisture, power is applied to the SR Trace cable.
Offer your customers a way to prevent costly water/ice damages. It will be too late to help them once “old man winter” returns. EASY HEAT with its SR Trace freeze protection cable systems offers a way to provide a service to your customers while helping “fill in” your work schedule before the busy summer construction season starts.
