It may seem strange to read about roof freeze protection systems in the warm spring months but this is actually a good time to offer your customers preventative measures for next winter. EASY HEAT recommends that the SR Trace cables be controlled to minimize energy consumption. Such a control can be as simple as a toggle switch with a pilot light or as sophisticated as a fully automatic system. The GC-1 controller (with its MSG-1 sensor) is one type of automatic control. It energizes the cables only when moisture conditions exist and there is a risk of freezing. If the temperature is below 38 degrees F. and the sensor detects moisture, power is applied to the SR Trace cable.
