7 KW UNIT FILLS OUT STANDBY GENERATOR LINE

David Kawauchi, Electric Marketing Manager

RHEEM has made available a 7 KW standby generator that completes its overall line of automatic home systems. With this addition, customers can select from a wide range of generator sizes from small (7 KW) to large (45 KW).

The 7 KW model (#40301 from Briggs & Stratton) is a fully automatic generator that operates on LP or natural gas. It produces 29 amps @ 120/240 volts and comes with a Briggs & Stratton “Intek” engine. In keeping with the low-noise SEREGEN generator line, it runs at 81 decibels with its “Lo Tone” muffler.

The #40301 is automatically controlled by the TS509C transfer switch that also works with the SEREGEN 50 (10 kw) generator. The TS509C is rated for 50 amps and offers 9 circuits for standby power that must be pre-determined and wired in (unlike larger SEREGEN switches that power an entire house panel). This allows homeowners to select only the essential needs for standby power (lights, heating/AC, water pump, sump pump, etc.).

This past winter many homeowners were without electrical power for as many as 5 days due to heavy storms that knocked out utility lines. Who knows how severe the lighting storms will be this year. Many don’t want to have to go through this in the future. RHEEM offers a solution to the homeowner’s needs with its standby generator line.
