The program applies to UBEA electric furnaces and UBHA heat pump
air handlers built prior to date code M4695 (aprox. Dec, 1995)
and installed in downflow and horizontal configurations. The heating
elements in the electric furnace and air handler can disintegrate
and expel small particles of molten metal into the duct system.
The molten metal particles can ignite nearby combustibles.
The program does not apply to:
Any built in or after date code M4695
Any unit installed in the upflow configuration
Any unit with all metal supply air ducts
Any downflow units installed on slab construction
If you think you installed or worked on any suspect units please
call Burt in Liberty or Alan in Albany with the model & serial
numbers. The cure is a simple change out of the blower assembly
which houses the electric heater. All models made after date code
M4695 have the upgraded heaters.
