Habitat for Humanity Update
by Peggy Richardson
Spring has sprung and the work has begun on the
Habitat House in Liberty! April 17th the foundation
was dug and prepared for pouring. The framers are all
set to begin.
The SCHFH is in need of Plumbers and
Electricians. The plan is to have volunteer crews work
Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 8 am – 12:30 pm.
Several organizations and churches have offered to
bring in food and refreshments for the workers. Please
call Mark Hackett at 845-292-8282 or let Peggy know
if you would have time to offer for this project.
A wonderful quilt created by Sally Abrams and
Lori Nixon is being raffled. Peggy has tickets
available. Cost is $3 for one, $5 for two and $20 for
ten raffle tickets.
Also, drop off your dead ink and toner cartridges
at Yaun Company for the SCHFH. We have the
recycle bags bar-coded for this Habitat House to
receive up to $1 for each cartridge sent in. The
collection box is by our receptionist in Liberty, or
leave them at our other branch locations in New Paltz
and Albany or give them to your Yaun Co. sales rep.
Thank you to all who sponsored the Oct’05 walka-
thon. This was the Beach Lake Unitarian
Universalist Fellowship’s 13th annual Walk to help
charities in the area. All of the pledges were put in a
pot and split 4 ways, $1,200 each! The checks were
presented on March 26, 2006. Thank you again!
